THE ALCHEMIST

Another great book which gave me an insight about personal calling.. The story line is simple.. A young shepherd from Andalusia encounters with an Alchemist on his journey to find a treasure..The book is packed with optimism and positive message..

The key points I loved from this story is,

4 Obstacles in one’s life:

1)We are told from childhood onward that everything we want to do is impossible. We grow up with this idea., There comes a time when our personal calling is so deeply buried in our soul as to be invisible. But it’s still there..

//This is 100% right, I had a great dream of becoming a doctor.. I was continuously told by my parents, that’s not possible. In my later years I do started believing the same..//

2) Second obstacle is LOVE. We know what we want to do, but we are afraid of hurting those around us by abonding everything inorder to pursue our dream..

3) Fear of defeats on our path

4) The fear of realizing the dream for which we have been fighting all our lives.

* Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own..

// Excellent comment//

* At certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate..This is the world’s greatest lie..

// Oh.. is it a lie..? Many times I had blamed fate..//

* When you really want something , the universe always conspires in your favour. Because life wants you to achieve your destiny.

//Great energetic lines, am going to write this statement in a chart and going to paste this in my room//

* We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it’s our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that our life stories and the history of the world were written by the same hand.

// Mmm.. What an optimistic wordings..//

* You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny. If he abandons that pursuit, it's because it wasn't true love… the love that speaks the Language of the World."

// Great lines about true love//

* Everyone on earth has a treasure that awaits him. We, people's hearts, seldom say much about those treasures, because people no longer want to go in search of them. We speak of them only to children. Later, we simply let life proceed, in its own direction, toward its own fate. But, unfortunately, very few follow the path laid out for them—the path to their destinies, and to happiness. Most people see the world as a threatening place, and, because they do, the world turns out, indeed, to be a threatening place.

// When I read it first time, I felt Mr.Paulo Coelho had wrote this by keeping me in mind.. Its after reading this book, I found my treasure and patiently moving towards my destiny//

* Every blessing ignored becomes a curse
// The main issue is to identify the blessings..//

The most powerful lines I loved is the conversation between Santiago and Alchemist. When Santiago asks him,” what if I decide to stay?"The alchemist will explain him, the importance of achieving our personal calling. It’s only after reading this particular part I was convinced why Machu should be in business. I understood that is his personal calling and I should not be a negative force to achieve his destiny..

I remember the day I was speaking to him about this book and I saw him emotional..He said deep inside his heart he knows well he is moving towards his destiny.. I know for sure he will succeed in his pursuit of reaching his destiny..This book made me feel calm and gave me an inspiration to frame my destiny..

PONNIYIN SELVAN

Very recently I read one of the great historic novel of Tamizh – Ponniyin Selvan..

Kalki Krishnamoorthy is a genious with unmatchable imagination..

When I read books, I used to skip the description part of it like sun arising in orange color, birds singing morning raga..moon and stars entering into its shelter blah blah blah…So I had a hesitation in the beginning to read this novel as its nearly 2500 pages and Hajara amma said the first volume fully is a messenger called Vandhiyathevan s adventure on his way to drop a message to the king Sundara chozan and Kundhavai..

Machu has great interest in historic things and he started reading and was much immersed into it. He was deeply moved by PONNIYIN SELVAN'S character description..And he said me he wish to name our son as "Arulmozhi Varma". It was at this point i decided to read this novel..

This is the first novel ever I enjoyed reading description.. Vandhiyathevan and Kundhavei's love narration and his comparison styles are awesome ..Usually when I read novels, I used to make a guess work on the twists, mostly it will be matched with the author..But in this novel, till the last book the twist continues and he unlocks it brilliantly..He had left few things to the imagination of the readers which is another different approach..

After reading PS, joined few communities to know better of the story.. From it, came to know Nandhini, Senthen amudhan, Poonghuzali, Azhwarkadiyan are fictious character of the novel who stands as a backbone to the novel..

Vandhiyadevan is my favourite character of this novel who is brave, good friend of Arulmozhi and a one who enters into trouble and narrowly escapes out of luck and tongue..

Kalki’s son had said in an interview that his dad lived with the characters of the novel.. One day while he was doing “Sheersasana” he jumped out of the posture and said it seems, “Senthen Amudhanei Raja aakkita enna”.. Immediately he rushed to this writing table and continued the story.. I read this incident in a forum..

Then to know how Adidthya Karikalan was killed, did a search and in orkut community I learnt that he was killed by Ravidasan and co and they were supported by Mathuranthagar.. Later when Arulmozhi comes to throne, he finds the truth and punishes Mathuranthagar.. Balakumaran in his book “Kadigai” had explained about it..

One uncleared doubt I have in this novel is about Nandhini’s father…I think it’s Veerapandiyar.. If so, when Adidthya Karikalan comes to kill him, she begs to him to not kill her lover..I tried a google search and I could n’t get a proper answer to it..If anyone know about it, please detail me..

I found an interesting game on orkut to recommend actor and actress for PS movie.. Many suggested Surya for Vandhiyathevan, Jothika for Kundhavei, Ramyakrishnan for Nandhini, Kamal for Anirudhar,Prakash Raj for Adidtya Karikalan...

I found an animated trailer for Ponniyin Selvan, Check the below link

If you are a great lover of historic novels, dont miss PONNIYIN SELVAN..

HARRY - MY BUDDY

To push away my idleness Harry Potter– a 11 year old boy came to my life. He made a positive transformation on me. He made me engaged, he made me travel into a wizarding world. At night, when I had nothing to think, he came into my imagination. I used to recollect the incidents which happened in his school and how he over comed it with the help of Hermione and Ron..

Only after reading the book, I will watch the movie. I used to have my own set up of imagination of the scenes and character appearance which are total contrary in movie. I had felt Dumbledore, Snape, Weasely twins, Cedric, Hagrid, Dobby, Neville were all real characters. I used to ask Sruthilla to be like Hermione, a smart bossy clever witted girl.

My sister was carrying when I started reading the first part of Harry. Due to Harry’s influence I used to nag her to deliver a baby boy. When I completed the final book of Harry series, she delivered boy baby. On hearing the good news, Sruthilla and me first said is: Hei…Harry Potter poranthuttan…I was interested to name him something that sound like “Harry” or atleast to be the first letter to be “h”. But astrologically he named as “MRIDHUL”.

Rowling had introduced many fictional animals in the book like centaur, hippogriff, phoenix, basilik, fang, unicorn, thestrals, dragons etc.. Characters like house elves, goblins, dementors were all beyond imagination. She had used a number of magical objects in the story. Few of which amazed me is the Pensive – a method of storing memory, the portkey – to transport the wizards to their determined destination, Marauders map – which shows the complete passage of Hogwarts and the student movement, then the Poly juice potion – which transfers you into another person.

I was upset for Dobby’s death in the novel. I like the way the house elf speaks. The authoress had made brilliant interlinks between all books. All 7 books are interesting and worth reading..

I have all seven books in a pdf version. If anyone interested, comment me..will get you back…
