SELF DEFENCE

I summarize here the following details which i read from various forums regarding self defence which are simple to implement and a must to be known by all women..

Once into any dangerous situation, women should not be panicked. A little act of common sense will help to save the situation.. Our safety lies in our own habits, attitudes and activities. Simple self defense techniques should be taught to our little ones and i feel it will be nice if its taught at school..

Few simple tips of self defense i have listed here..

What should a woman do if a knife wielding man demands her mobile phone when she is alone?
Throw it as far as away. As he runs for the phone, you run in the opposite direction.

What should a woman do if she finds herself alone in the company of a strange male as she prepares to enter a lift in a high-rise apartment late at night?
There is nothing to fear. Enter the lift. If you need to reach the 13th floor, press all the buttons up to your destination. No one will dare attack you in a lift that stops on every floor.

What to do if  a stranger tries to attack you when you are alone in your house ?
Run into the kitchen. You alone know where the chilli power and turmeric are kept. And where the knives and plates are. All these can be turned into deadly weapons. If nothing else, start throwing plates and utensils all over. Let them break. Scream. Remember that noise is the greatest enemy of a molester. He does not want to be caught.

Before getting into an auto at late night, note down its registration number. Then use the mobile to call your family or friend and pass on the details to them in the language the driver understands.Even if no one answers your call, pretend you are in a conversation. The driver now knows someone has his details and he will be in serious trouble if anything goes wrong. He is now bound to take you home safe and sound.

I remember one such situation that happened to me.. Saranya, Reema and me were on our way to VLB college for a symposium. It was un time and we never got a bus. But as we have to rush to function we decided to get lift..One Tata Sumo came by that time and we got into it..Only a driver was into it.. After few minutes we got panicked, the road is isolated and we are unaware of the location. I was biting nails and was observing the route , if something happens should run na..
We all three were in same mind state. Reema had mobile, Saranya then pretend speaking to her dad creating a drama that her dad is a police officer and he is in station as we were informing him we are going to college in a red color Tata sumo. She said from which place we got lift.. After the fake call, we were relaxed a bit.. A near by town came where there were few people and we asked him to stop. We got down there. Really we had a thrilling time.. But we strongly decided not to take such risks..

What if the driver turns into a street he is not supposed to - and you feel you are entering a danger zone?
Use the handle of your purse or your dupatta (shawl) to wrap around his neck and pull him back. Within seconds, he will feel choked and helpless. In case you don't have a purse or a stole? Just pull him back by his collar. The top button of his shirt would then do the same trick.

If you are stalked at night, enter a shop or a house and explain your situation. If it is night and shops are not open, go inside an ATM box. ATM centres always have security guards. They are also monitored by close circuit television. Fearing identification, no one will dare attack you.

If someone trying to molest you, say he pushed you down and he is upon you, use your fingers and punch or pinch his eyes, make him blind. The human skull is the powerful weapon. Use your head as a weapon against the culprits nose and mouth.. You will definitely get time to get up.. One can use the same technique when someone grabs you from behind..If he is behind you, strike him in the groin and run.. It will definitely take him some time to get relieved from pain..

Mostly in bus, many ladies would come across pinching, touching actions.. Dont get panic..Instead of grabbing their wrist or entire hand, simply grab the little finger. Make the back of the finger smash into the back of the culprits hand. He will scream out of pain..

Always carry a safety pin while bus journey. Pierce it deeply into those stupid’s hand.. I remember an incident 2 years back..I went to drop mom to railway station, Zeenath accompanied me..As it was night time less crowd at govt bus. Zeen was sitting near the window seat. I was almost sleeping.. Suddenly zeen said someone is pricking her thru the window side.. I immediately raised and saw who is it.. One stupid was there sleeping.. Within few minutes, again his hands came thru the window pane..On such situations i lose my temper, stood up and started shouting at him.. He was continuing his sleeping drama.. All other passengers were good spectators. Suddenly he woke up and was looking as if he was in some other planet.. Zeen my brave friend gave him a slap..Then i shouted at the conductor for his silentness.. That stupid was saying why you never informed me when he pricked at the first time itself.. Few good souls then started to speak in favour so the conductor grabbed that stupid and pushed him on a road side..

What is important is to stay cool at all times. When you have spare time, think of everyday situations where you can be in trouble. And how you can save yourself. Its not necessary that women should be physically strong to defened themselves, after all, being mentally alert is the greatest weapon one can ever have.

I believe these tips are useful ...Pass on the message to the little ones at your home and to all the women you care...

ANBAE SHIVAM

It is my long term desire to pen about one of my favourite movie. Very recently (2009) I watched this movie completely. This film gave me a great feeling.. It made me think about the concepts of God and the worship styles.. This movie made me ask several questions like, “what is GOD, Is it the idol inside temple." I will say this movie made me an impact on my vision towards GOD

Kamal Hasan is my all time favourite actor..I love many dialogues in this movie. It has a lighter comic conversation like the one Arasu & Shivam will have at hotel.

Though i dont know to write Tamizh, i never wished to translate those powerful conversation in English..

My thanks to Vinithra for assisting me in tamilz typing..

Arasu: ஒரு காலும் இல்ல..

sivam: எனக்கும் ஒரு காலும் ஒரு கையும் இல்ல

¿£í¸ ¸¡ÐÄ Å¡í¸¢ì¸Ä¡ ¾¨ÄÂ¢Ä Å¡í¸¢ðÊí¸..

Powerful dialogues i liked is..

Arasu: À½õ ¦¸¡Îò¾¡ ܼ ź¾¢ ¸¢¨¼ì¸¡¾ ¿¡Î INDIA, That’s INDIA

Sivam: À½õ ¦¸¡Îò¾¡ ±ýÉ §Åñ½¡ ¸¢¨¼ìÌõÛ ¿¢¨É츢ÈŨÃìÌõ, that will be INDIA for you

And the other most beautiful dialogue is when Arasu speaks about communism and Shivam says
¾¡ˆ Á†¡ø þÊïÍ §À¡ðîÍýÉ¡ ¸¡¾ø Àñȧ¾ ¿¢Úò¾¢÷Å£í¸Ç¡.."

And the touching conversation Arasu speaks after the small boy’s death
"±ýÉ Á¡¾¢¡¢ design þÐ, ±ýÉ Á¡¾¢¡¢ ¸¼×û þÐ.....
Sivam: ±ÉìÌ ¸¼×û ¿õÀ¢ì¨¸ þø§ÄÛ Â¡÷ ¦º¡ýÉÐ?

Arasu: ¡÷ «ó¾ ¸¼×û?

Sivam: ¿£í¸ ¾¡ý

ÓýÉ À¢ýÉ ¦¾¡¢Â¡¾ ´Õ ¨ÀÂÛìÌ ¸ñ½£÷ Å¢¼È «ó¾ ÁÉÍ ¾¡ý ¸¼×û..

Next the interrogation with Nazar.. I love this dialogue like anything..
"
¿£í¸ ±ý¨É측ÅÐ QUEUE Ä ¿¢ýÛ º¡Á¢ ÌõÀ¢ðÊÕ츣í¸Ç¡..

QUEUE§Å ¦ÅÇ¢§Â ¿¢ì¸ÅîÍðÎ personal ¾¡¢ºÉõ À¡ì¸ÈÅí¸ ¾¡§É ¿£í¸..

¦ºöÂÈ ¾ô¦ÀøÄ¡õ Àñ½¢ðÎ ¯ñÊÂøÄ ¸¡¨ºô§À¡ðÎ §À¡ö§¼Â¢ÕôÀ¢í¸...

«Ð º¡Á¢ þø¨Ä, ÜÄ¢.."

And The climax talk with Santhana bharathi..

Sivam: ´Õò¾É ¦¸¡øÄ ÅóÐðÎ Áɺ Á¡ò¾¢ðÎ §À¡È¢í¸§Ç, ¿£í¸ ¸¼×û

S.Bharathi: Áɺ Á¡ò¾¢ð§¼ý,¸¼×ûÛ ±øÄ¡õ ¦º¡øÄ¡¾£í¸ ¾õÀ¢

Sivam: «ôÀÊ ±øÄ¡õ ¿õÀ¢ì¨¸ þøÄ¡Á ¿¡ò¾¢¸õ §Àº¡¾£í¸, °÷Ä ¿¢¨È §À÷
þôÀÊò¾¡ý þÕ측í¸

After watching this movie, I agree “ LOVE IS GOD”.

THE ALCHEMIST

Another great book which gave me an insight about personal calling.. The story line is simple.. A young shepherd from Andalusia encounters with an Alchemist on his journey to find a treasure..The book is packed with optimism and positive message..

The key points I loved from this story is,

4 Obstacles in one’s life:

1)We are told from childhood onward that everything we want to do is impossible. We grow up with this idea., There comes a time when our personal calling is so deeply buried in our soul as to be invisible. But it’s still there..

//This is 100% right, I had a great dream of becoming a doctor.. I was continuously told by my parents, that’s not possible. In my later years I do started believing the same..//

2) Second obstacle is LOVE. We know what we want to do, but we are afraid of hurting those around us by abonding everything inorder to pursue our dream..

3) Fear of defeats on our path

4) The fear of realizing the dream for which we have been fighting all our lives.

* Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own..

// Excellent comment//

* At certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate..This is the world’s greatest lie..

// Oh.. is it a lie..? Many times I had blamed fate..//

* When you really want something , the universe always conspires in your favour. Because life wants you to achieve your destiny.

//Great energetic lines, am going to write this statement in a chart and going to paste this in my room//

* We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it’s our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that our life stories and the history of the world were written by the same hand.

// Mmm.. What an optimistic wordings..//

* You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny. If he abandons that pursuit, it's because it wasn't true love… the love that speaks the Language of the World."

// Great lines about true love//

* Everyone on earth has a treasure that awaits him. We, people's hearts, seldom say much about those treasures, because people no longer want to go in search of them. We speak of them only to children. Later, we simply let life proceed, in its own direction, toward its own fate. But, unfortunately, very few follow the path laid out for them—the path to their destinies, and to happiness. Most people see the world as a threatening place, and, because they do, the world turns out, indeed, to be a threatening place.

// When I read it first time, I felt Mr.Paulo Coelho had wrote this by keeping me in mind.. Its after reading this book, I found my treasure and patiently moving towards my destiny//

* Every blessing ignored becomes a curse
// The main issue is to identify the blessings..//

The most powerful lines I loved is the conversation between Santiago and Alchemist. When Santiago asks him,” what if I decide to stay?"The alchemist will explain him, the importance of achieving our personal calling. It’s only after reading this particular part I was convinced why Machu should be in business. I understood that is his personal calling and I should not be a negative force to achieve his destiny..

I remember the day I was speaking to him about this book and I saw him emotional..He said deep inside his heart he knows well he is moving towards his destiny.. I know for sure he will succeed in his pursuit of reaching his destiny..This book made me feel calm and gave me an inspiration to frame my destiny..

RAJA RAJA CHOZHAN

In my previous post, I was unable to pen about the protagonist “RAJA RAJA CHOZHAN” the great king who made a tremendous contribution to our state.. In Ponniyin Selvan, Kalki had remarkably picturised the characterization of the king..

I googled to know more about the great chozha king “Arulmozhi varma” who ruled between 985 A.D – 1014 A.D. He extended the chola empire upto Sri Lanka in the South and Orissa in the North East. He made sure in his war that normal life of the people not be affected. And he made arrangements to bring food and basic amenities from his own kingdom while war.. He holds the distinction of being one of the 6 Indian kings who never lost out on the battle field to enemies.

During his reign he developed strong military and navy force. He ruled Chera, Chozha and Pandya kingdom hence called ad “Moommudi Chozha”. Thiruvalangadu Seppeidugal speaks about his glory.

He was a good administrator who streamlined the administration with the division of country into various districts. He systemized revenue collection through land surveys. He introduced a democratic principle for election called “ Kudai olai Murai”. And he was the king who was democratically elected..

While he was at Sri Lanka, he was fascinated by the tall Buddhist statues and he wished to built a great temple at his place. He built the famous “Brahadeeshwara temple" at Tanjore which is now recognized by UNESCO as world’s heritage symbol. Usually big temples were built by slaves or refugees. But he constructed this temple with his own people and all were indulged in the construction whole heartedly.

The main reason for writing this blog is, when I was trying to read more about him, I came across this link. Felt too bad on watching this video. Check this link..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpLsha2naao

A great king whose grave is covered with bushes and lies there without any maintenance. Something should be done to his resting place He lived with glory and it has to be maintained. Definitely he has to be honoured..

PONNIYIN SELVAN

Very recently I read one of the great historic novel of Tamizh – Ponniyin Selvan..

Kalki Krishnamoorthy is a genious with unmatchable imagination..

When I read books, I used to skip the description part of it like sun arising in orange color, birds singing morning raga..moon and stars entering into its shelter blah blah blah…So I had a hesitation in the beginning to read this novel as its nearly 2500 pages and Hajara amma said the first volume fully is a messenger called Vandhiyathevan s adventure on his way to drop a message to the king Sundara chozan and Kundhavai..

Machu has great interest in historic things and he started reading and was much immersed into it. He was deeply moved by PONNIYIN SELVAN'S character description..And he said me he wish to name our son as "Arulmozhi Varma". It was at this point i decided to read this novel..

This is the first novel ever I enjoyed reading description.. Vandhiyathevan and Kundhavei's love narration and his comparison styles are awesome ..Usually when I read novels, I used to make a guess work on the twists, mostly it will be matched with the author..But in this novel, till the last book the twist continues and he unlocks it brilliantly..He had left few things to the imagination of the readers which is another different approach..

After reading PS, joined few communities to know better of the story.. From it, came to know Nandhini, Senthen amudhan, Poonghuzali, Azhwarkadiyan are fictious character of the novel who stands as a backbone to the novel..

Vandhiyadevan is my favourite character of this novel who is brave, good friend of Arulmozhi and a one who enters into trouble and narrowly escapes out of luck and tongue..

Kalki’s son had said in an interview that his dad lived with the characters of the novel.. One day while he was doing “Sheersasana” he jumped out of the posture and said it seems, “Senthen Amudhanei Raja aakkita enna”.. Immediately he rushed to this writing table and continued the story.. I read this incident in a forum..

Then to know how Adidthya Karikalan was killed, did a search and in orkut community I learnt that he was killed by Ravidasan and co and they were supported by Mathuranthagar.. Later when Arulmozhi comes to throne, he finds the truth and punishes Mathuranthagar.. Balakumaran in his book “Kadigai” had explained about it..

One uncleared doubt I have in this novel is about Nandhini’s father…I think it’s Veerapandiyar.. If so, when Adidthya Karikalan comes to kill him, she begs to him to not kill her lover..I tried a google search and I could n’t get a proper answer to it..If anyone know about it, please detail me..

I found an interesting game on orkut to recommend actor and actress for PS movie.. Many suggested Surya for Vandhiyathevan, Jothika for Kundhavei, Ramyakrishnan for Nandhini, Kamal for Anirudhar,Prakash Raj for Adidtya Karikalan...

I found an animated trailer for Ponniyin Selvan, Check the below link

If you are a great lover of historic novels, dont miss PONNIYIN SELVAN..

BEST OF 2009

These are my best list of 2009

In Movie its: Peranmai. Nice patriotic movie. Watched this movie with zeenath. Ravi had made a class performance as a tribal native.

Song: Nenjae Nenjae (Iyan)

Love to listen the lyricsAahayam niram mari ponal pogattum, aanal nee manam mari pogakudathu”

Bit song: Adhi kalai (Peranmai)

“Sethu kondae kadhal seivatha, kadhal seithey sethu povatha..”

Nice comedy: Siva manasula sakthi

Santhanam & Jeeva both had given their best. I never get fed up with this comedy clippings though watched repeatedly.

Book: Tell me your dreams by Sidney.

Most racing novel I ever read this year. Sidney brilliantly had plotted the story of a girl affected by Multiple personality disorder .This story was written in 1980’s where many people had not aware of MPD.

Hotel: River side restaurant - Berliyar

Amidst long trees, this wooden restaurant stands beautifully. More than food, you will definitely love the atmosphere of long densely populated trees, cool breeze. There will be a sort of silence which helps to look into us. Only issue is elephants at times from forest used to get down. On your way to Ooty, try best for not to miss this hotel for its atmosphere.

Game:

I heard in my childhood days chess is a game of brainies. I had a desire to learn it. Only by this year it was fulfilled. Kicked away Zuma, Bejeweled, square assembler and learnt to play chess against computer .Upto fourth level I made a progress.

TV SHOW:

Neeya nana – an useful talk show about simple social – family issues. A talk about spendthrift and misery pair, how couple change after love marriage, in laws relationship, opinion about wearing thaali, father – son relationship , talk between love failure & loving couples, about evil spirits etc..were all some topics I remember which I enjoyed watching. I like Gopinath’s tamizh fluency and his vision on subjects. A real worth watching show.

HAPPY FUNCTION:

The day we went to Saravanan’s marriage. I wore blue silk saree and walked with Machu. Many would have been thought we are married couple. The feeling that we appeared to other’s eyes as couple made me feel happy. Waiting for the feeling to come true…

MEMORABLE DAYS:

It’s Valentine’s day.. Machu maintained the suspense till evening. He asked me to open a box, where there was a beautiful “Dora” cake. We cut the cake. Then he presented me a lovely red roses bouquet. Few days back, Sruthilla’s dad bought her doll tattooed shoes. On seeing that I too felt like having one.I told him about it. He remembered my list and presented me Mickey watch, Donald stickers and doll shoes. The fact he remembered and respected my little likings made me float..

Next my birthday, He never gave me any clue on what’s going for this day. Morning we cut the cake and together got blessing from mom. I used to tell him frequently, my highest desire in life is to fly and my last desire is to have dinner at RESIDENCY. We had our moon light dinner. We were dining near the pool. Suddenly he took my hands and presented me a ring. I blushed and looked around to see if anyone was watching us. A foreign couple who were diagonally seated were watching us and they passed a smile.

Machu on each and every break was giving me surprise.. The whole day was memorable to me. It’s a day I treasure..

Next one was on Sept 17,2009. The previous night around 10.30 sister called to convey she is getting pain. Mom, sruthilla and me were worried on thinking of sister. Morning at 2.30 A.M Murali Ettan called to convey Mrrudhhul born. Morning rushed to see him, he lay awake with a naughty face. An other important day of this year is his presence to this world.

UNFORGETTABLE TRIP:

It was by the month of August, Machu had terrible business pressures. Apart from it unannounced shut down at office. Just like that decided to move out without any preset destination. He asked me which road to move. I said to some cool place, so decided to go to Coonor. Tea plantations, cool climate, eucalyptus smell, good songs made the trip relaxing. We went to a nearby waterfall. While climbing down he plucked a bunch of little colourful flowers and presented to me. That sudden act of love touched me, I started loving him once again more than I do..

PROUD ABOUT:

Rukhsana Kausar – 21 year old Kashmiri girl exhibited her courage when 3 terrorist tried to molest her. She axed to death the chief commander of Laskar –e-Toiba. Then with her 18 year old brother, snatched guns from the 2 terrorists, opened fire and made them flee. I present my hearty salutation to her. All Indians should be proud of her.

GLORIOUS MOMENT:

It was when I watched A.R RAHMAN standing on diers with 2 Oscar awards telling “ Ella pughayum irraivanukkae”

Shock: Increase of jewel price..

One good thing I did on 2009:

Planted 8 saplings and taking care of it well. J
